Thesis Title: Exploring the uncanny valley effect
About
I'm a part-time PhD researcher with the Open University: I also work full-time for the OU creating and analysing samples for educational research.
For my thesis I'm looking into the phenomenon of the uncanny valley. Generally, I'm fascinated by the sense of unease that people get when encountering something almost but not quite human, but more specifically I'm looking at the the question of what qualities make 'uncanny' faces different from human and non-human faces of all kinds.
I'm hoping to complete my thesis in Spring 2013 but studying part-time is considerably harder than I ever expected! I'd love to hear from other part-timers, or anyone carrying out similar research.
