About

I currently work as an Editorial Researcher (Denmark, United Kingdom) at ResearchResearch.

I recently completed my doctoral degree in the English Department at the Open University. My doctoral thesis entitled 'Black and Asian British Life Writing: Gender, Cultural Identity and Representation in Selected Novels from the 1990s', focused on race, gender and cultural identity in contemporary black and Asian British women's autobiographical writing. My other research interests include trauma studies, orphan writing and anarchism.

I am Website and Marketing Manager of the Journal of Postcolonial Writing.

I was Postgraduate Representative of the European Association for Commonwealth Literature and Language Studies (EACLALS) (http://www.eaclals.ulg.ac.be/) and a member of the Postcolonial Studies Association (PSA) Postgraduate Committee (http://www.postcolonialstudiesassociation.co.uk/).

I co-organised the Postcolonial Studies Association Postgraduate Conference, 'Networking the Globe: Information Technologies and the Postcolonial', held at Stirling University, Scotland, 21-22 May 2010, and organised the Open University Postgraduate Conference, 'Reading Conflict', held at the Institute of English Studies, University of London, 19 July 2010.

In the Autumn of 2009 and Spring of 2010, I organised the Inter-University Postcolonial Seminar Series, held at the Institute of English Studies, University of London.

For the academic year 2008/2009, I served as Student Representative on the Faculty Research Sub-Committee.

I have contributed an entry on Lucinda Roy to The Literary Encyclopedia and have an article on Andrea Levy forthcoming in a special issue of EnterText.

I am co-editing, with Brian Rock and Florian Stadtler, a special issue of Journal of Postcolonial Writing entitled 'Networking the Globe: Information Technologies and the Postcolonial'. (forthcoming, 2013/14)

In September 2011, I taught a course on black and Asian British literature at the ASNEL Summer School, 'Spaces of Projection', held at the Universities of Bern and Basel, Switzerland (http://spacesofprojection.wordpress.com)
