I am an applied linguist with particular interests in
• discourse analysis
• English language teaching
• translation studies
• language in public debates about food policy
• literary stylistics and literature teaching
• language play
• the language of advertising and public relations
I shall be leaving my current post in June 2012 to take up the Chair of Language in Education at King's College London.
I was co-editor of the journal Applied Linguistics from 2004-2009. I am an academician of the Academy of Social Sciences (AcSS)and current Chair (2009-2012) of the British Association for Applied Linguistics.
