Writing the history of The Open University

About

In order to understand how best to research and write about the students, employees and impact of The Open University, UK I am developing my interests in the digital humanities, Adult Education, Part Time Education, Distance Learning, The UK 1960 to the present day (the OU was founded in 1969) and educational technology.

I also have an interest in the history of fraternal and mutual aid associations. These can be taken to include friendly societies and Freemasonry, co-operatives, trade unions, charities, families and the wider notions of reciprocity (in particular the ideas of Marcel Mauss) community and The Big Society'.
